Secondary roads tend to lead traffic from local roads or sections of neighborhoods to activity areas with communities, major roads, or occasionally directly to expressways or freeways.4 – Local Roads – A road intended only for the traffic of local residents and visitors. "Frontage Road" and "Service Road" are under this classification.5 – Alley – A narrow road that runs between or behind buildings. Usually located along the back lot lines of properties.
