<idPurp>This project established digital, 4-band orthoimagery for the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois in 2024 as part of the Illinois GIS Consortium (GISC).</idPurp>
<idAbs>Ayres Associates provided the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois with digital, 4-band orthoimagery services as part of the Illinois GISC. The aerial imagery was collected on March 10th using a Leica Geosystems DMCIII sensor mounted in a fixed-wing aircraft. Aerial imagery was collected to support 0.25 foot ground sample distance (GSD) orthoimagery to meet the National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS) at 1"=50' map scale. The 3-inch pixel orthoimagery was produced to meet or exceed NMAS requirements, stating that 90% of all test points be within 1/30th of an inch at mapping scale. Resultant orthoimagery was rectified to a DEM surface created from existing LiDAR data. Orthoimagery was delivered in PLSS section GeoTiff and MrSID tiles and a project-wide MrSID mosaic. The orthoimagery was delivered according to a quarter-section tile schematic. <stepDesc>Ground control consisted of photo identifiable surveyed points. The imagery was collected using a Leica Geosystems DMCIII at 7cm GSD. Image quality was verified during the post flight review phase. Factors considered during this review included, but were not limited to, the presence of cloud cover, contrails, light conditions, and sun flare. A rigorous Aerotriangulation process was performed and supplemented by the photo ID survey points. The triangulated strips were rectified to a DEM surface created from existing LiDAR data. The imagery was mosaicked using manual seamlines generation and tone/color balanced to a project wide consistency. PLSS quarter-section RGBN tiles were extracted from the mosiac and each individual tile was reviewed for artifacts and anaomalies and adjusted as part of quality control procedures. The images were reviewed for rectification problems such as bridge displacements and seamline issues caused by the underlying digital elevation model. When necessary, local corrections to the imagery were performed to minimize such effects.</stepDesc>
